There is a perception out there – fostered by those who profit from it – that real food does not taste good. This is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!!
The FigureFoodie.com mission is to help people discover that eating clean can and should taste good!
You’ve come to the right place, if you are:
- …looking to make a change to eat healthier but aren’t sure how to do it
…want to change how you look and have figured out that exercise alone doesn’t swing it
…a clean-eating athlete who wants more ideas and recipes on how to eat clean
A couple of things you should know about me:
- I am not a registered dietitian. Food advice here is based on my own experiences, reading, research, experimentation, etc. Nutritional information is based on the data I find on packages, in The Complete Book of Food Counts by Corinne T. Netzer, and on CalorieKing.com.
- I am not a strict purist. There are some items I use in my recipes and in my own diet in small amounts that some might not consider part of a clean eating diet (for example: Splenda). Whenever possible, I suggest a substitution or suggestion.
- I am not, nor will I ever be, sponsored or endorsed by a food company or restaurant. Not that all of them are inherently evil—but most contribute to the problem instead of being part of the solution. Any packaged products I recommend, are based on my experience and opinion alone.
- I am a competitive Figure athlete. This alone, should tell you that I am absolutely insane. I love competition even though I have to go through a lot of pain, inconvenience, expense, and grief, etc. to do it.
But you should also know that a few years back, I was not an athlete at all. I was a little overweight, ate processed foods, and hated to cook.
That aside, here’s some of what is to come soon:
- More on the basics of eating clean, including why you should eat clean, shopping lists, and time-saving tips
- Quick and easy ideas for ways to prepare your food to enhance the flavor
- Diet tips – ways to avoid temptation and minimize damage
- Competitor talk – competition season for us physique athletes is coming up! Look for tips and tricks to keep you from straying from your competition diet
- More ramblings about clean eating. Really, when someone tells me that I should eat like a “normal” person, I want to scream, so I rant about it on this site
- And, of course… more recipes, recipes, recipes!
